Finalist Weekend and the UNC gang
The ‘Finalist Weekend’ activities were held today at the new Engineering Buildings on Centennial Campus. The ‘Finalist Weekend’ is when all the Park Scholarships finalists (approximately 100 students) come to NC State for their final interviews. I always make it a point to help out with this event, because it is such an important part of the program. This year I served on a student panel about study abroad and research opportunities with my classmate Katya Casper and upperclassman Brice Nielsen. We told them about our experiences abroad, and I had a slideshow running in the background of some pictures I took while traveling, so all you people in Lund: a bunch more people have seen you! Katya really impressed the finalist candidates with all the research she has done — Mars rover prototype, NASA and Boeing internships, indepedent research project with micro air vehicles, etc. And this is just her third year at NC State!
That night, I drove to Durham for my friend Naman Shah’s belated birthday party. He is 21 now, a great friend with a lot of potential to help improve people’s lives. I had a blast hanging out with all my friends over at UNC. It’s a kind of feeling I can get with that group that is more elusive at State.
I finally have a digital camera here at my apartment., so pictures shall come shortly.
