Whoa that's cool to hear, Keith! Hehe. I love that segue between the marriage amendment and Bayesian statistics. I've just taken one statistics class in college...and learned less than what I did in AP Statistics! (Not to say that I still retain what I learned in AP Stat...lol).

What are Bayesian statistics mostly used for or are optimally suited for? A really handy thing in engineering is the Monte Carlo simulation...but I don't know how much that is used in psychology.

I share your sentiments.

What strikes me as most scary about the possibility that this amendment is passed is that it is a clear violation of the seperation of church and state; irregardless of how the present administration and proponents of this legislation package it up, they are decreeing that, based upon the tenets of religion (namely Christianity), who can and cannot be (legally) married. It's absolutely abominable.

On a completely unrelated note, I'd just like to state how wonderful Bayesian statistics are. If you use statistics at all in your research projects take a look into this statistical framework.

Wow I didn't realize they were going to vote on this thing soon. Yeah, I would never consider supporting that kind of Amendment. Heh, you know a month ago I donated $15 to the ACLU so they are sending me the infamous card in the mail. :)

The Federal Marriage Amendment is one of those things that really frustrates me about the Republican leadership. They say they support limited government and giving more freedoms to the individual...except when it comes to marriage or who you choose to be intimate with...you know....stuff that doesn't have anything to do with personal civil liberties.

Hey man!

I feel you with regard to next semester being crazy! I am in the same boat as far taking the GREs, applying to graduate schools, and continuing my research.

Oh, hey...DO NOT support the Federal Marriage Amendment. It is an obvious breach of civil liberties. Go here: http://www.au.org/site/R?i=wwwsBavktAiwkkd1gJgZnA

Hej Frieder,

Definitely! After I run my Mazda into the ground (I want to try to get 10-12 years on it) my next car will be a manual. I don't know though....hybrid technology will become so prevalent who knows what cars will be like 10 years from now!

I can still shift gears on my Mazda manually...but without a clutch. It's not a very intuitive system.
