Camera is ready to go

Sachi sent me my memory cards and batteries so now my camera is back in operation.

My dear readers — what do you want to see? Let me know and I’ll do my best to snap it.

This morning I met with my case study group, but we thought the case was boring so ended up talking about India’s rise on the world stage and American dominance (my three partners are all Indian). Went to Dr. Lee’s class, and had another gem today in class. He titled one section of the lecture “Stupid Amplifier Tricks”, and described ways you can trick circuits into giving you more bandwidth. Difference between a trick and a method? A trick works once, a method might work twice. Regarding the benefits that the inductive peaking technique gives you (increased bandwidth with no loss in gain), Dr. Lee said:

“It’s not a free lunch, but its a small, tasty, nutritious snack. And as engineers, we love free snacks. Now, if we put the inductor instead in series with the load resistor, I’ve got two friends: a zero, and inductive peaking. And two friends are oodles of fun.”

Yeah. I’m serious. Neuroengineering is still largely review, wish we’d move faster into actual applications.  Watched part of the State of the Union address (boring) and did some EE 314 homework. I gotta start these earlier.

    pics desired:

    1. a typical Stanford classroom that you have class in, empty, except for Saket sitting in the front row with his hand enthusiastically raised
    2. the coolest eatery area on campus with Saket pointing at all the places that serve vegetarian options
    3. the coolest cafe you like to chill at with friends. in the photo there must be exactly 3 professors sitting having coffee together, 4 students studying a big pile of notes, a dog tied to a light post out front, and someone else accidentally spilling their hot beverage into their lap
    4. a photo of my high school buddy Ed Chiang and you, wearing Stanford t-shirts and a sign that has “Hi Randy Tang!” quickly scribbled as if there was no time to take the photo.
    5. the most difficult and complex looking page in your most difficult and complex text book…in a trash can
    6. Stanford’s crew’s boathouse with Saket standing in front wearing a unisuit and holding an oar

i know you’ll do your best to snap these!

    1) When I think of front-row, enthusiastically raised hand, that’s Donny. You see, Saket will just be blogging or wikiing or something, then just shoot up his hand and fire off a question that the guy’s post doc wouldn’t have thought of.
-it would still make for a great pic though. as would the others. lol.
(now we all gotta conspire and think up some absurd stuff for Donny to photograph)
